Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Text Unreadable On 4K Screens

Capcom is bringing back a highly requested feature for their upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remake Remaster. No, Remake! Wait?

It's been 18 years since Capcom's Dead Rising first debuted on the Xbox 360 in 2006. Completely disregarding their own all time great zombie thriller which launched mere months before - ahem, Darkwatch, of course -  Capcom decided to give us a different type of zombie mayhem. This time preferring to wow us with a wacky mall adventure, filled with ridiculous weapons to use against an unprecedentedly large hoard of zombies all at an instance. Oh and an upgrade to high definition TV's.

2006 was a different time. Most households were still stuck in the standard definition era, despite mouth watering plasma and LCD screens flooding the market at exorbitant prices. Crappy, Regular Television was sadly where it was still at for most, even with the HD ready Xbox 360 released to the masses.

Unfortunately the arrogant developers at Capcom Production Studio 1 didn't take that into consideration while developing the original Dead Rising; All on screen text was optimised for at least 720p resolution, rendering critical information unreadable on most CRT displays. With no option to alleviate the issue at launch, Capcom created a class struggle not seen in gaming since the unnerving Atari 2600 to NES massacre of 1985.

With the upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster for modern systems, Capcom is looking to recapture that old magic.

"Players have not forgotten the magical, nostalgic realization of knowing they were also going to destroy their credit ratings for a new high definition TV, when they first popped the Dead Rising disc into their Xbox 360 before it RROD'd back in 2006."

"We want people to rediscover the wonderful feeling of being fully bent over by big tech companies, or perhaps even experience the glory for the very first time. Learning to consistently purchase all of the stupid extra crap that is relentlessly pushed down your throat is integral for the economy. It's important that your children are adequately trained to take your place before you finally give up and choke to death, in this meaningless eternal facade we call consumerism. Sometimes, micro-transactions are not egregious enough."

The original box art warned us all along.

"Not knowing what the fuck you're doing due to abysmal text sizes is a staple of the series, and we're proud to partner with Samsung to replicate this by aggressively pushing 8K TV's into consumer's homes as the only choice of alleviation. We're already at the point of diminishing returns with resolutions, but you won't realise that until you've already bought our game and the screen, and read a Reddit post of some loser who's searched through the source code, only to realise we've intentionally screwed up the text with a filter for 4K resolutions and under." Laughed series producer Ryosuke Murai.

I wonder if downsampling DRDR to 240p onto my 1980's PVM would look any good?
